It doesn’t get much more heartbreaking—and inspiring—than Caty Rodriguez’ story. A senior at Winters High School, she recently lost her 18-month-old son, Isaac, who had cerebral palsy.
Yet, Caty has taken her grief and turned it into a mission: to raise funds and awareness for cerebral palsy, and she has entrusted UCP of Greater Sacramento with all donations she raises.
This incredible young woman formed a partnership with First Northern Bank in Winters as part of her senior project. When customers make a donation, a paper heart is displayed—the bank is now covered in paper hearts. She has also held car washes and garage sales to raise funds. A few weeks ago, she even held a hike-a-thon at Bobcat Ranch—check out the photos! Thanks to Caty’s hard work, she was featured in the April 15 edition of The Winters Express.
Caty has already raised $7,000 in memory of Isaac, and is well on her way to her goal of raising $10,000 by the end of this month. To make a donation, visit First Northern Bank in Winters or call Steve Horton at UCP at (916) 565-7700.
We are honored beyond words that Caty has chosen to partner with us and to entrust us with using her donations so more parents will have support when their children are diagnosed with a developmental disability like cerebral palsy.
We are encouraged as Isaac’s little heart lives on in every person Caty touches through her message.
